and what a home it is !!! welcome to my shrine for Wally Darling which i am making after a week of knowing him because im an insane person :)
within the lore of the series, wally darling is the main character of the lost media children's television show "welcome home", which ran from october 11th, 1969 to some point in 1974!! fun fact, clown chose october 11th as the shows premiere date because it's national coming out day!! most if not all the characters are lgbt as well :)

wally is normally the one being taught lessons in the episodes and books of welcome home, because he doesnt seem to know much about the world, despite being in his mid-late 20s! his dedicated segments of the show were usually dedicated to painting or drawing with the viewer, and i think its said he interacts with the viewer directly the most? he's also the only one depicted as looking right into the camera in his official character artwork on the website! in the file name of one of his guestbook doodles (seen on the right), he says that he stares a lot because he wants us to know that he's talking and listening to us!! isnt he just the sweetest??

1. he's only 12 apples tall ! or 3 feet, if you prefer :)
2. he doesnt know what to do when hes hugged!! he likes it, but hes still learning, so he just goes limp
3. he loves being picked up and carried by the other characters!! he'll ask for it but theyll also just pick him up sometimes - clown says that the way hes held every time would be best described as "darling"!
4. he eats with his eyes! he can look at food and blink, and pieces of it will disappear with bite marks!
5. you are barnaby is his best friend!
6. his house is alive!! his name is Home, and hes often regarded as the 9th neighbor of the show!
7. his favorite food is apples!! he doesnt eat them though, he just likes to look at them :)
8. he also doesn't understand how baking works. if you tell him you made him an apple pie, he'll be confused, because he cant see the apples! he thinks it's different!
9. he doesn't sleep! he just closes his eyes and says "i'm sleeping, i'm sleeping, i'm sleeping..." over and over!
10. him, and many of the other residents of welcome home, are neurodivergent! he is specifically autistic! making too much eye contact, flat affect, not understanding social cues or certain jokes, etc! that's not the ONLY examples of his autistic behavior, just the first off the top of my head!
11. he has an apple collection that consists of a singular red apple!
12. he likes to hold warm things in his hands and just feel them :)
13. he loves to blow kisses to people!! he uses it as a greeting, as a goodbye, just to express affection, he does it for all sorts of reasons!
